Tanya Chapman

Senior Associate, M App Law (Family Law) LLB BA GDLP

Tanya has been with Hartleys Lawyers since 2017 and is an Associate Solicitor with the firm. After graduating with a double degree in 2016 (Bachelor of Law/Arts) Tanya volunteered at a Community Legal Service prior to commencing her employment with Harleys Lawyers. On commencing her role with Hartleys Lawyers Tanya spent a number of years at working with legal aid clients. Tanya has experience acting for clients with complex parenting matters including international and interstate relocation, recovery orders, paternity issues, allegations of family violence, drug use and allegations of abuse against children. Tanya has experience acting for clients in property disputes including settlement negotiations, applications for urgent spousal maintenance, court proceedings in relation to property matters and Binding Financial Agreements. Tanya has experience acting for clients with Family Violence Intervention Order and Personal Safety Intervention Order matters. Tanya regularly appears at the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and the Magistrates Court. In 2021 Tanya Completed a master’s degree in applied law, with a focus on family law, specialising in complex parenting and property matters. In 2021 Tanya completed the Independent Children’s Lawyers training and expects to be to be accepted into Victoria Legal Aid’s Independent Children’s Lawyers panel later in the year. Tanya sees clients all across Melbourne and is the primary solicitor operating out of our Williamstown and Point Cook offices. Tanya believes that each matter is unique and believes in a practical and respectful approach to resolving family law matters.
